As time has gone on though, more and more people are reporting some interesting symptoms that are a touch unexpected compared to traditional COVID symptoms. In this video, we dive into these odd or unexpected or less expected symptoms that are being reported in Omicron. We look at the evidence and data behind these symptoms, as well as whether they were seen previously with COVID-19. Lastly, we talk about why Omicron may be causing them.
The more common Omicron symptoms seem to be sore throat or scratchy throat, congestion or stuffy nose, sneezing, cough, and headaches. ZOE is a resource for this that is a large collection of self reported data.

The symptoms being reported more and more are drenching night sweats waking people up from sleep, red eyes or painful eyes, significant muscle aches particularly in the back, and tremendous amounts of fatigue. Headaches have been a big symptom as well. Less are reporting loss of taste and smell, shortness of breath, and fevers. The data though remains quite limited.

Night sweats have been reported in many news outlets as a prominent symptom of Omicron. These were very rarely reported with COVID-19 previously. As little as 2-3% of people.

Ocular complaints, or eye complaints, were actually reported by more than 10% of patients with COVID-19 previously with the most common complaint being redness of the eyes, conjunctivitis, foreign body sensation, and more.
