(26 Mar 2019) Lebanese President Michel Aoun laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in central Moscow on Tuesday morning during an official visit to the Russian capital.
Aoun arrived on Monday afternoon and was due to meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin later on Tuesday to discuss ways to help get Syrian refugees back home.
Lebanese politicians are divided over how to handle relations with the Syrian government and repatriation of refugees and look to Moscow to help to mediate that.
Lebanon has taken in over 1 million refugees from neighbouring Syria, which is equivalent of a quarter of Lebanon's population.
