A giant swing ride called the Tsunami crashed at the Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Faridabad on Saturday evening, killing Palwal police inspector Jagdish Prasad and injuring at least 13 fairgoers. The ride, carrying about 18 passengers, malfunctioned mid-swing, plummeting from a height around 6:15 p.m. during the popular 39th edition of the fair known for handicrafts and cultural shows. Officials launched a probe into safety lapses, filed an FIR against the operator, and noted an earlier welcome gate collapse that injured one more person, prompting calls for stricter inspections.
