Pilgrims dressed in vibrant yellow walked barefoot and carried offerings such as milk pots (paal kudam) and ornate kavadis-burdens symbolising vows they have made. Many participants had their heads shaved as a sign of purification, smeared with sandalwood or ash, and some entered trance like states during the procession. Ritual dances, chanting, and emotional expressions of devotion electrified the atmosphere as believers climbed the famed 272 steps toward the cave temple.
