This film follows a journey from Kathmandu to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve in eastern Nepal – and back again.
Along the way, the route moves from the busy streets of the capital through villages, farmland and river valleys, into one of the country’s most important wetland areas.
The film documents everyday life along the road: small-scale farming, self-sufficiency, and communities where several generations live and work together.
It also shows how closely life here is tied to nature – both through the resources it provides and through its destructive power.
In 2024, heavy rainfall caused severe flooding and landslides across Nepal.
Along the river valleys, roads and bridges were destroyed, houses were damaged or swept away, and farmland was lost.
In many places, temporary roads have since been built to reconnect communities and keep daily life moving.
In Koshi Tappu, the journey continues by boat through the wetlands, observing wildlife and the surrounding landscape, including quieter days with fewer sightings than expected.
The return journey leads back toward Kathmandu, via hilltop stops where roadside trade, memorials and modern travel culture intersect.
This is a documentary about contrasts:
between city and countryside, people and nature, silence and movement –
and about the journey itself, not just the destination.
