GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK | Tent Camping in Tennessee

Описание: Welcome to our tent camping in all 50 states journey! In this vlog we venture across Tennessee into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park- one of our favorite places in the world :)

In this video we officially kick off our journey to tent camp in all 50 US states. Day 1 was a travel day as we drove from Arkansas to Hurricane Mills Tennessee. Now a little disclaimer, we splurged and stayed in a Kamping Kabin on our first night to celebrate MK's birthday :) This was our first time staying at a KOA and definitely learned a lot. We weren't fans at first but as we continue to add states we are becoming bigger fans. Our Kamping Kabin was right on the i40 and we could hear quite a bit of traffic all night so it wasn't the best night's sleep but it was a great start to our journey.

On day 2, we drove to Nashville where we stopped at a park near Belmont University to eat lunch and grab some Birthday Starbucks in Hendersonville Tennessee. After that we drove through Nashville to Newport Tennessee where we checked into our second KOA. We were pleasantly surprised by the fact that there was already a tent set up on our tent pad (for us). We wanted to stay in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park but the campsites were booked at the time of planning our trip. We did travel during the coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic so campsites were at limited capacity. We made one of our favorite meals for dinner and went to sleep!

On Day 3 of camping in Tennessee trip, we left Newport and drove through Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg Tennessee where we got our first glimpse of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park!
We took a short hike up the mountain before heading to Clingmans Dome for a stunning view. Once we left Clingmans Dome, we hit some major traffic on the way down so we pulled off and grilled burgers in the visitor's center parking lot :) After dinner we headed down the mountain to visit The Island in Pigeon Forge where we sat and watched the fountains dance! Then we found a place to camp at the Elkmont Campground in the National Park to spend the night.

On Day 4 we woke up before the sun to catch a glimpse of the sunrise over Gatlinburg. After that we headed back to Nashville where we made a stop to change clothes and visit the Grand Ole Opry. After lunch we left Nashville for Memphis where we got the BEST BBQ in the world from the original Corky's BBQ on Poplar Ave.

We couldn’t have had a better time in state #1 on our fifty states journey! Tennessee has a little piece of our hearts and we hope to go back soon. Next time, we will remember the coffee!
