We were AMAZED to see the modern side of Africa. We traveled to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, with open minds. We saw clean, orderly and modern streets lined with tall glass buildings. People were very well behaved. We bet most people didn't know Africa was this civilized.

We started at Africa Ave (sometimes called Bole Road or Airport Road) as we figured this was a fitting starting point. There's a sense that Addis Ababa is trying to be/ going to be the face of Africa soon enough, expecially with the African Summit in town during our stay.

From there, we ate Ethiopia's best Philly Cheesesteak (what?) and headed over the the Science Museum, which is really an impressive place. The architecture is fantastic-- it looks like a football stadium combined with a spaceship. And inside: incredible exhibits that are very interactive. Jean really enjoyed it. (The bonus is the place has great A/C and filters so it's refreshing and gets you out of the dust for a few hours).

The bonus of the Science Museum is the viewpoint ontop. The amount of new construction is mind boggling. I wish to come back to this same museum in 5 years and look at the skyline again. I bet it will be unrecognizable.

Next, we went to dinner at the tallest building in Addis Ababa. Fancy restaurant. I guess the chef is famous: Chef Marcus as seen on cooking network TV? Anyway, fancy places are not for me. I ordered a steak and it came out all chopped up, served to me in a salad. It was overall an... okay experience.

On our way to see the dancing fountain at Friendship park, we stumbled into Ambassador Park by accident. There's lots of places like this around the city: I guess related to the Corridor Project. Cafes, nicely manicured grass and plants, and an all-around good vibe. We nearly missed Friendship Park because we were so impressed with Ambassador park.

Lastly, we recorded a hecka long outro because we wanted to provide more info for the video. So many nice comments have been coming in from people who are curious about Ethiopia, and maybe will travel there one day.

Our advice: DO IT!
