Описание: David Swanston, a Top 10 finalist for the Global Teacher Prize 2021, has been helping children with visual impairments for over a decade.

David found that students with a visual impairment often go on to face high levels of unemployment and have (on average) 4-6 fewer friends than their sighted peers. His approach to teaching children with visual impairment is personalised according to their level of vision. He is currently working on the development of rugby, specifically for the blind, by modelling gameplay and creating ball prototypes using textures and electronics.

In 2020, David was named Pearson's National Teaching Awards Gold Winner for Excellence in Special Needs Education and was appointed Deputy Principal of St Vincent’s.
