Ratho Farm Golf Links: Australia's OLDEST Golf Course

Описание: We absolutely love it when one of our subscribers reaches out and asks us to play a course and it was fantastic timing when we were asked to play the Ratho Farm Golf links, we had already planned 4 courses for a 5-day golf trip to Tasmania, so we were one course short.

You are in for an experience the moment you drive through the gates at Australia’s oldest golf course, settled in 1822 by the Reid family it is the oldest remaining golf course outside of Scotland, because it’s a farm as well as a golf course you’re going to see lots of animals around and there is onsite accommodation along with an amazing dinner experience where they relieve the history of Ratho through the journals of the early settlers, we loved the dinner and can highly recommend it.

Being in central Tasmania you can get all sorts of weather conditions, we were lucky enough to have beautiful sunshine on the day we were there but as you can see in the photo above it can get a little snow, we’ve also been told that the wind can really blow hard making an already difficult course that much harder.

This is truly a golf course you just must experience for yourself, walking onto the first tee we struggled to work out where we were supposed to hit our tee shot, after chatting to the hosts we eventually found out that there is a green in the distance, over the fence and past the paddock
There are blind tee shots early in the course with the holes expanding as the course continues into the back nine, one thing is for sure, you are not going to be bored, and your golf game will be challenged, like the stunning fourth hole that runs alongside the river, miss your shot slightly right and you are dead.

And if you think the course is going to relent, think again, you have tee shots like the picture above where accuracy off the tee is at a premium, and then once you’ve made it all the way around this awesome course you reach the last hole and right at the end there is a giant tree in the middle of the 18th green, it’s a perfect end to an amazing day.

I could talk about Ratho Farm all day, it was such a highlight of our trip to Tassie and the more people that get to experience this amazing of golf the better,
