Boat shoes are not meant for skateboarding.
You've probably heard that skateboarders are known for their unique style, which is often reflected in the clothing they wear. But unless you're using your boat shoes for skating, it's best to save them for more traditional occasions and leave your skateboard at home. Boat shoes were designed with comfort in mind: they have a flexible leather upper and a soft rubber sole that makes them great for walking around town or on the beach. However, these features also make them unsafe when used on skateboards. Skateboarding requires stability and grip from the shoe below your feet, but boat shoes lack both of these qualities because of their flexibility and smoothness respectively, they won't provide much support during jump tricks!
