I found myself disliking the first minutes of the movie Joker; he was constantly on the receiving end. Fortunately, things took a turn on the train; he took charge of his life and went after those whose plan was to destroy him. He killed them. At this point, I fell in love with it.

Just like the Joker, the kenyan voter has for long been taken for a ride. My hope is that one day, he will stand up and fight for what is rightfully his, that is, proper utilisation of his taxes through the provision of good health care, a proper education system, a disciplined security force that serves the people not the demigod in power, proper infrastructure, a very supportive business environment, a country free of corruption and so on.

It's good to note that the Kenyan voter can no longer be termed a victim, but an accomplice to this system that is quickly enslaving him. We can change it. We can take back our power. Kenyans are by far some of the most hardworking people in the world. That we continuously elect thieves and poor visionaries to guard what we have toiled so hard for, is not only shocking, but also a sign of an unexplainable self hatred. We have formed a bond too strong with our abusers. Let's not find comfort in abuse. We owe it to ourselves and the future generations to change the course of our nation. I urge you to stand up for what is good, even if those around are drowning in mediocrity! Please, do not join them. Let's set the bar high and reach out for it.

Till then, I leave you with a quote from Benjamin Burombo that points out our disunity, and therefore our current position at the bottom of the human race, "each time I want to fight for African rights, I fight with one hand, because the other hand is busy trying to keep away Africans who are fighting me".
