The project of a heavy self-propelled breakthrough gun was based on the E 100 tank. According to some sources, there was a project for a self-propelled gun with a front-mounted cupola.(This is even more impractical and illogical, as such a "solution" would lead to the tank's overbalance and collapse.) The Jagdpanzer E 100 combines the E 100's chassis, a modified E 100 turret, and a 12.8 cm PaK 40 heavy anti-tank gun.The roof of the conning tower was to have a commander's anti-aircraft turret armed with a 20 mm Flak 38 cannon. A crane for loading shells into the conning tower could have been located on the roof.
