A toggle joint is generally used to amplify manual force by a substantial amount. This is an interesting application to apply force analysis using free body diagram.
In this video, I have tried to show the force balance in the mechanism and derive the coefficient of amplification from first principles.
I encourage viewers to try and apply this method for many similar mechanical engineering applications.
For simplicity, I have considered equal length of links. Viewers may try to solve it for un-equal length of links too.
