I have been looking at trying this for quite some time, I found a wiring diagram on net and thought I would have a go.
I chose the reversible method simply because I did not want to cut into my guitars wiring.
The wiring cost me £3 and to be honest I'm a complete noob when it comes to soldering so if I can do it then I suggest have a go LOL.
All went pretty straight forward apart from setting fire to the bread on the kitchen sideboard and setting all the smoke alarms off LOL. I wouldn't recommend testing the wiring the way I did LOL.
I haven't finished the new back plate it's all cut and fits ok just needs spraying black, I have also used some Velcro strapping to harness the batteries together to stop them rattling around in the guitar.
For recording I used only one SHURE SM57, no eq or effects just raw recording synched with the video. The effect of the 18v mod can be heard better in person but you get the idea from the video, overall I think it gives more power and clarity to the notes.
I would recommend doing it, but do it this way as it's as easy as changing the battery to reverse back to 9v.
