How to beat Master Mode:
1. If you aren't going to use it, make it a bonus.
For example, if you're not going to use status, then choose status immunity as a bonus to earn free points that won't hinder your gameplay.
2. Techs are really useful in Master Mode.
Opponents may become very powerful and/or bulky, but they are weak to poison, sleep and trap. Take advantage of statuses if you didn't choose status immunity as your bonus.
For poison (RECOMMENDED) and/or trap, you'll want to execute them as soon as possible for them to build up over time. For sleep, time it well with sleep-chaining. Queue Hypnosis when the sleep icon blinks the 7th time.
There are already gameplays on beating Master Mode, so I'm going to escalate it and impose a self-challenge by beating it with highest bonuses chosen, i.e.
1. Strength +3
2. Ally Move Gauge Max -2
3. Max HP +6
4. Strength +6
While this doesn't change your opponent's defenses, their strength becomes equivalent of Lv. 200.
It'll be insanely difficult to beat levels with only semi-F2P units with all these 4 bonuses. Gacha sync pairs like N and SS Red will be used, but the overall strategies remains the same no matter what bonuses you choose.
Typically, if your opponent is using a moves with at least 3 bars (e.g. Bug Buzz, Outrage, Close Combat, etc.), your Sync Pair is pretty much dead without relevant buffs and strategies.
Note: Unfortunately my screen recorder isn't always recording the gameplays sucessfully. There are times it would result in a black screen after recording. Resetting is the only way, which I don't have the time to do, so my final points is 6K. Getting 7.5K with these bonuses applied in one go is still achievable.
[0:00] Volkner/N/SS Blue VS Will
This is a general team to use besides SS Red, but it requires paralysis set-up. Once you paralyzed all opponents with Volkner, you can set up Electric Terrain for N to sync nuke.
Drifblim can use Thunder which can potentially kill SS Blue, so using Blastoise's sync is almost necessary to tank most of the attacks. AoE Endurance gives everyone more turns to survive and queue, and +2 buff really helps boosting N's DPS.
In short, it's a battle against time to see who can output more damage quickly.
[3:23] Lucy/Blue/Misty VS Koga
Koga is actually the hardest and most annoying stage among all. I've experimented the stage with the highest bonuses, which is quite impossible due to Koga's high DPS, sync nuke and AoE attacks from side mons. Highest bonuses is not applicable in this case.
Tech is the key to beating Master Mode levels. While the opponents are super tanky and/or powerful in Master Mode, they are vulnerable to statuses, especially poison. Lucy can poison and trap, resulting in approx. 7K poison damage as it accumulates over time.
Misty is here to provide healing and Sp Def bulk, given Koga uses Special attacks.
[7:12] Skyla/Steven/Jasmine VS Bruno
Bruno's stage is rather straight-forward, so a single Steven should be able to handle him using flinch.
Note that Bruno's Close Combat can chop off more than 50% HP from a Sync Pair, so it's essential to bring Physical tankers (e.g. Jasmine, Skyla) to withstand attacks.
[11:06] Oak/SS Leaf/Lillie VS Karen
I used this team against Latios some days ago, can check the video here:
• Buff, Debuff, Heal and Posion | Oak/Lillie...
The key strategy to beating Karen is to poison them ASAP, preferably at the first turn of execution. Oak will also use his TM to boost his evasiveness as much as possible, then he and Lillie will spam moves to debuff opponents.
Though Oak has Vigilance, Karen's Stored Power post-sync still does tons of damage. SS Leaf's Potions are mainly used to heal Oak and herself, as 3/5 Lillie can self-heal with X Acc All.
[15:33] Serena/SS Red/Leaf VS Lance
For Lance's stage, sleep-chaining is used to stop Lance from attacking as many as possible. What SS Red needs is the time to build up enough Sync buff to break through Lance's defenses in order to deal enormous amount of damage.
How can you time your Hypnosis right? Look closely at the sleep icon of your opponent. When it blinks the 7th time, you need to start queuing Hypnosis (or Sleep Powder if you're using Ramos).
