Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Retrospective - Blood is Thicker

Описание: Resident Evil 7 is terrifying because it feels hungry, hostile, masters tension and understands the importance of dread. It bleeds inheritance, and blood, as they say, is thicker than water.

For the first two-thirds of the game, that thickness is unmistakable. The horror suffocates. The estate is a living wound that drips red. But as you leave the house, ascend from the swamp, that blood does become water. The oppressive tension evaporates. The final act shifts to running, gunning, hollow mines and anticlimactic goodbyes. The dread drains out and the atmosphere thins.

But how much of a problem is that? Do the ship, the mine, and The Infamous Choice tarnish Resident Evil 7’s legacy? Or are they footnotes to a game that people claim “Saved Resident Evil?”
