Woerden is less than 15 minutes from Utrecht Central and 30 minutes from Leiden Central by train.
Woerden is a fortified city with more than 2,000 years of history. Two thousand years ago, the northern border of the Roman Empire - the limes - cut through the Netherlands. In the year 40, where the current city center is located, the Romans built a fortress: castellum Laurium.
Whether you live in the Netherlands or are visiting for the very first time, we recommend adding Woerden as a day trip.
