Extending table RESTORATION | Veneered or solid?

Описание: I restored a veneered cherry extending dining table.

So I found this extending dining table on Facebook marketplace place for sale for £30. It was advertised as solid cherry but half was through the project I discovered the table was definitely not veneered and I'm not fully convinced the table was cherry either I'm not an expert in identifying wood species but I think it was teak.

A manufacturing sticker under the table said "finish TK" which could mean it was stained teak? maybe TK doesn't even stand for teak. It doesn't make much difference to me either way as I would still take on the project. It's just nice to know what I'm getting into aha. lesson learnt.

Painting the grain was a first for me and I wasn't super happy with the way it looked but after applying the stain/ shellac it hid it better then I expected. any advice on doing a better job would be much appreciated.
