Landslide Hits Wayanad Tunnel Project In Kerala, Several Feared Trapped; Rescue Ops On

Описание: A landslide struck Kalladi near Meppady in Kerala's Wayanad district, triggering a major rescue operation amid fears that people may be trapped under the debris. The incident occurred near Meenakshi Bridge, where work on the Wayanad–Malappuram tunnel road project was underway. According to the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority, five people were injured after rubble from the tunnel construction site slid down following heavy rainfall. All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, and no deaths have been reported so far. Fire and Rescue Services, police and NDRF teams are carrying out search operations, while local residents rescued three people from the affected area. Chief Minister V.D. Satheeshan has reviewed the situation and directed ministers to oversee rescue and relief efforts in Wayanad.
