Continuing the repair of a broken headstock Les Paul. We are getting close to having this neck ready to glue to the body...accept for all that sanding, bah!

With the original headstock logo veneer applied to this new neck, I've been able to move things along.
Routed a rabbet around the headstock, added binding as an upgrade - looks nice!

Prepped the original fingerboard, plugged the old marker dot holes and added new binding.
Cut in an access notch at the high end of the fingerboard for the truss rod wheel.

A lot of sanding, scraping and prep work, a lot!

Glued the old fingerboard to the new neck, and it's really starting to look promising now!
More sanding and scraping, pretty much everywhere.

Re-radiused the fingerboard, now it's a 14" radius... originally was a 12" (mostly).
Don't worry, the original bridge will still work, more on that later.

Tuning machine mounting holes were then drilled, but we made a thicker headstock - so, addressing the issue of the limited tuner reach needed to be resolved. I chose to create a recessed "well" for the washer and mounting nut to sit down in. Now the top mounting hardware will sit below the surface of the headstock = pretty custom!
