Moleson couloir E and couloir N accident, 27.02.2019

Описание: I noticed that people still watch it, so I decided to add a description. I started to ski at 45 years of age, I am not a particularly strong skier, and my technique is quite ugly. But I like to ski rather steep routes, I skied many (as you could see in my channel) successfully and had a great fun out of it. This time, the snow was not exactly easy and it was a bit at the limit of my abilities. Still, it would have been all Ok, had not the binding on my right ski opened unexpectedly at the reception of the turn (if you watch closely, this moment is clearly seen in the video). Unfortunately, the snow was very hard, and despite my best efforts I could not stop my fall after losing the ski. Fell about 300 m all the way to the bottom of the couloir, turning and bouncing multiple times. I did not loose consciousness, called REGA (helicopter rescue) myself, they arrived in 15 min, pulled me into the helicopter and brought straight to the hospital. I was extremely lucky: had only my right wrist broken in several places, a few bruises on the head and face, pulled muscles, but nothing major. Spent 3 days in the hospital and several months of rehabilitation after wrist surgery. Thanks to the amazing rescue and wonderful surgeons, doctors, nurses and physio- and ergo-therapists it all healed very well: I play tennis and badminton with the injured arm as well as before! The lessons: always check that your ski bindings are closed properly, don't ski over your abilities, especially any steeps in hard snow where a fall could be serious, always have insurance.
