Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar's name has become synonymous with the Sitar. He was instrumental in popularising the Sitar in the West, and with it Indian Classical music, through his collaborations with greats such as the virtuoso Yehudi Menuhin and Beatles guitarist, George Harrison. He is a prolific composer who has served as the Music Director of All India Radio, a Grammy award winner and an international performer.

Right from the early 1970s, he has had the opportunity to perform in Bhagawan's presence, which included some private concerts just for Bhagawan, His guests and students. As part of this week's Sri Sathya Sai Sangeet, we share with you glimpses from one such exclusive occasion. This is from a concert he offered in the Divine Presence at the auditorium of the Prasanthi Nilayam campus of Bhagawan's University on Jan 02, 1983. Accompanying him on tabla is Sri Gourang Kodical.
