This is Abuja, the capital of Nigeria in Africa, a super city with a population of more than 6 million. As early as 2019, it ranked 463rd among the world's developed cities and is one of the most developed cities in many African countries.
But you may not think that in such a national capital, many residents can hardly guarantee clean drinking water. Especially in the suburbs around Abuja, nearly one million people are facing daily water problems.
But you may not know. In the past decade, Chinese companies have built more than 100 water treatment plants in 36 states in Nigeria, providing safe drinking water to more than 7 million people.
In 2023, China spent another $500 million to help Abuja build a complete set of modern water supply systems. Today, this water supply project has been officially put into use, and it is expected to solve the water problem of 2.8 million people in the future.
