There once was a time when the Chicago ACE lock and the GEM by Fort Lock competed in the tubular key marketplace. Both companies have been absorbed into CompX and while they technically no longer compete for market share, they do still represent competing standards.

That's what we're going to get into in the coming weeks as I examine tubular locks with you. It should be fun!

For now, however, I wanted to get your minds in the mood by asking about how many of you have seen this interesting tubular lock before? How many of you think you can figure out how it works? We'll explore that along with many other topics related to tubular locks soon.
