The SS Portlairge, known as the Mud Boat, was built in Dublin in 1907 and worked for over 75 years dredging Waterford Harbour and the River Suir.
This coal-fired steam hopper dredger kept the channel navigable for growing commercial ships until 1987, when she was beached at Bannow Bay, County Wexford, where she remains today.
