Chennai: Fellow students protest after teen dies during at college sports event

Foul play is being alleged by the fellow students of 18-year-old J Mahima, who lost her life on December 10 during a sports event at her college in Chennai. Students came together in protest on December 11 alleging that the principal forced them to take part in the sports event. It has been reported that Mahima had sought exemption from the event saying she was anaemic, but the trainers forced her to participate. She collapsed during a basketball game and was declared brought dead upon arrival at the hospital. The local police have said that they have spoken to the principle and he has assured not to compel students for such events in the future.
