Loboc "Hugos" 2016

Описание: The Bohol HUGOS (meaning Hang, or Hung) is an Easter tradition in many Catholic parishes of the Philippines , also called SALUBONG (Meeting, Encounter) in Tagalog Luzon, or SUGAT (Meeting, Encounter) in other Visayan speaking provinces. This is usually performed by children dressed as angels, singing Latin verses from the Easter sequences in the Bible, while the two carriages (carosas) bearing the Risen Christ on one and the Sorrowful Blessed Mother Mary covered with a black veil on the other enter from two separate directions and meet. The angels describe the Resurrection scene whilst singing and this climaxes with a Main Angel hung from either a makeshift tower or parapet or hidden within the bosom of a bird (in some areas a pelican) descending aided by a pulley, or harness or crane or walking down a staircase as he/she sings the main hymn, the Marian antiphon REGINA COELI LAETARE..ALLELUIA. He/she stops in the midst of the two blessed figures and at the end of the song, he/she takes away the veil off Mary's head. The angel chorus of children usually breaks into an Alleluia Refrain. This scenario of course has many versions as there are towns in a province doing the annual heritage tradition, displaying local creativity, community spirit and faith..This videoclip is an initiative of Kasing Sining to jumpstart a cultural research program for Bohol.

In this Loboc version, we see the acclaimed Loboc Children's Choir singing the chorus sections supported by members of the Loboc Brass Band.
