It is not just a coincidence that over 90% of the 33 ICC cases target the Global South — it shows the "deep bias" of the West, Ethiopian social anthropologist Mohammed Awel Hagos told Sputnik Africa.

"No powerful Western leader has been brought to ICC, never. […] It undermines trust, and it confirms that there are different rules for different people," the expert noted.

Pursuing African leaders through the ICC, the West "chips away [at] the countries' sovereignty," but at the same time it ignores the US' crimes in Iraq or Afghanistan, he emphasized.
