Johnny Kendall & the Heralds was an Amsterdam pop group from the sixties. The group played blues, beat and rock and roll and was best known for the hit "St. James Infirmary". The singer of the group was Johan Donker Kaat, aka Johnny Kendall.
On May 9, 2014 Johnny Kendall made a guest appearance in the football program Voetbal International on the television channel RTL7 and he was followed for a day by Johan Derksen during an episode of Derksen on the road. He is also part of his theater show Johan Derksen and the pioneers of the Nederpop. In 2014 he still lives in Bos en Lommer, but mostly lives with his girlfriend, 40 years younger, in Brazil.
Bassist Geert Veen - who had had solo success in 1980 with the single "Aquarius" under the name Gary Fane - passed away on July 12, 2019.
Between 2005 and 2011, Johnny Kendall appeared regularly as a guest at De Maskers in their Back to the real sixties show.
