The Lur people have a wide variety of local breads, each holding a special place in their food culture. Because of its thinness and delicacy, baking this bread requires great skill and experience, making it far from easy to prepare. Despite the difficulty, rural and nomadic Lur women bake it very skillfully. They learn this craft from childhood by watching and helping their mothers and grandmothers, gradually perfecting their technique over time. The quick movements of the hands, spreading the dough to the right thickness, and turning the bread at the proper moment over the heat all require precision and experience. Today, Fariba and her daughter Kowsar are also baking Tiri bread together. The dough is ready, and the fire is well heated. Fariba skillfully spreads the dough over the hot surface, while Kowsar carefully removes the baked breads and sets them aside. The aroma of fresh bread fills the air, bringing warmth and a sense of intimacy to the home. This activity is not just about baking bread; it is also the passing of a tradition and skill from one generation to the next. By working beside her mother, Kowsar is not only helping but also learning, so that one day she too can bake this traditional bread and preserve this cultural heritage.
