Call them snow melters, call them hot tubs -- either way you put it, NYC has wheeled out the big guns to help clear the city of its massive mounds of frozen snow.
The melters haven't been used in five years, but without any warming temperatures to help get rid of the snow, they bring much needed assistance to the work to get rid of snow. A handful of the machines are spread out across the five boroughs and should be in use for at least a couple of weeks.
