A major milestone has been achieved in the construction of the Zojila Tunnel, as over 13 km of excavation work has been completed. Once operational, the 14.15-km-long tunnel will become India's longest road tunnel and provide all-weather connectivity between Kashmir and Ladakh.
Located at an altitude of 11,578 feet, the tunnel will significantly reduce travel time between Ganderbal and Kargil, improve civilian mobility, boost tourism, strengthen military logistics, and support economic development in the strategically important region.
