The Ricercar Bello is based upon the well-known French chanson "Il set bel et bon" by Pierre Passereau and was composed by Girolamo Cavazzoni (1525-1577), edited by Maurizio Machella. The source for the edition is the Organ Tablature of John of Lublin, a Polish collection of over 350 mid 16th century keyboard pieces.
It was recorded on a Johannus AGO Live III on the sample of the 1686 Schnitger organ in the Ludgeri Kirche, Norden. Samples have four positions, Console, Front, Centre, or Rear of church. This was recorded using the Rear sample.
