Urban Exploration on the grounds of Prospect Reservoir, Western Sydney.
A beautiful Historic Picnic spot by the large body of water, though it had a shady beginning. Sickness, Scandal & Death. We had to come down and Investigate....
The Reservoir Is the largest Portable Water Supply and storage in Sydney N.S.W. Opening in 1888 it can store 50k megalitres.
In the late1800s, emancipated convicts settled initially and worked on the site, the camp at one point grew to 4000 strong, before it became a thriving village. It sounds like a great place to be...
The camp was not without a few issues..
The township lacked in proper drinking and sanitary conditions which bred disease including Typhoid which killed many in the camp.
The nightlife was rough as you would expect. Most of the men spent their wages at the local pubs, Resulting in fights, ladies of the night and a drunk
Patrick McNamara drowned in a waterhole nearby.
Perhaps their souls still roam the area...
