Olena is from Ukraine and was raised in the Czech Republic, and Isaac is from Rhode Island. We met in Prague, got married in 2016, and since then we've lived in China, Brooklyn, Rhode Island, and now Maui. Our travels have changed a lot over the years — these days, with three dogs and four cats (all rescues), we stay closer to home and spend more time learning about the place we live.

Our channel features a bit of everything: travel vlogs, local business spotlights, unboxings of all kinds of products, and lots of dog and cat videos too. We try to balance exploring popular spots with finding the lesser-known, community-rooted places that make each destination special. When we review products, it’s because we genuinely think they’re worth sharing — no gimmicks, just honest impressions.

We’re especially mindful of what it means to live in Hawai‘i as people not from here. We recognize the long and painful history of colonization and displacement that began with the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom. We try to give back by volunteering with local organizations like Maui Cultural Lands, Hawai‘i Land Trust, and Rooted Kākou Me Ka ‘Āina. We’re always learning, always listening, and doing our best to be respectful guests on this land.

(YT Playlist:    • Maui Wildfires August 2023  ) To support the people of West Maui after the Lahaina wildfires, Common Kings came to Honokowai Beach Park in Lahaina to play an intimate show. The show was not posted on their social media and was only spread through word of mouth. Normally, Common Kings sell out huge arenas, but this show was only about 700 or so people, most of whom had lost their homes in the fire. The show was completely free, as were all the supplies at the pop-up tents at Honokowai Beach Park. As of this August 27th, Honokowai continues to be a hub of support for the people of West Maui with volunteers donating all of their free time to this cause.
