How to reach Matheran:
No vehicles are allowed after the Matheran entry point.
From the Matheran entry point, you have the following options to go to the Matheran market:
Horse - charges anywhere between 300 to 700 rs for dropping off at your respective hotel. Do bargain
Human-pulled cycles: charge around 700 to 900 rs for dropping off at your respective hotel
Electric rickshaws: Charge is 35 rs per person for dropping off till the start of the market. After that one has to walk to the hotel or can hire a horse. On weekends it has a waiting time of at least 1 hour.
Mini train: around 50 rs charge per person and will drop off till the Matheran railway station located in Matheran market. The ticket can’t be booked in advance.
