Duke Yoni – Artist Bio
Duke Yoni (born Yonathan Cruz on March 27, 1990) is a Costa Rican singer, songwriter, producer, and radio host focused on exploring emotion, identity, and transformation through music. His work blends elements of electronic rock, pop, industrial, and dark pop, shaped by a DIY ethic and personal storytelling. The influence of dark pop is central to both his sound and visual identity—bringing a moody, introspective, and often surreal edge to his artistic output.

He began recording music in 2014 and released his debut album King After War in 2017, a concept album about a young boy confronting personal struggles in an unforgiving world. The project introduced a sound built on layered synths, raw lyrics, and a blend of pop and alternative influences.

In 2018, Yoni launched pop.Not, a radio show on Radio Nova CR where he spotlighted emerging artists across Costa Rica's independent scene. The program featured a wide range of musicians and helped foster conversations around creative expression and local culture.

His most recent full-length project, Ven, Por Favor (2023), continues his exploration of experimental pop and electronic aesthetics, drawing from both internal reflection and everyday life. The album leans heavily into dark pop textures—minimalist yet cinematic, emotionally dense yet rhythmically driven. It was released through his own independent label, BELYON RECORDS, with distribution managed by his publishing company, Duchy Of Romutto Publishing Corp. Together, these platforms give him full control over the creative and logistical sides of his music.
