However, as Jesus prepares His disciples for His imminent departure in John 16, He introduces a different kind of joy—one that isn't dependent on circumstances, but is actually strengthened through sorrow.

In this message, we examine the Greek concept of Chara—a deep-settled gladness in something immovable. Jesus promises that while the world may rejoice in our suffering and we may endure seasons of "weeping in the night," our sorrow has an expiration date. Because Jesus has overcome the world, the disciple of Christ can possess a joy that no one can take away.
