Questa Romanza «senza parole» per violino e pianoforte è nata come brano esclusivamente pianistico, a cui solo in un secondo momento ho aggiunto il violino. La parte pianistica dunque esiste come brano a sé stante, indipendente e autonomo. Ho cercato così di coinvolgere la personalità del violino nel rispetto di quella del pianoforte. Due individualità che si toccano, si incontrano, armoniosamente dialogano, si seducono e si attraggono l’una con l’altra, non nell’unione simbiotica ma nel rispetto della differenza e dell’alterità dell’altro, in una follia d’amore che rimane intimità dei lontani, amicizia siderale di due gravità opposte.
Nel raccogliere il canto del violino mi sono lasciato ispirare da una frase di Shakespeare tratta dal Romeo e Giulietta che ho riportato in partitura: «Ma tu chi sei che avanzando nel buio della notte inciampi nei miei più segreti pensieri?». È il pianoforte che pone la domanda d’amore, nei cui pensieri notturni in tonalità di Mi bemolle maggiore incede il violino in un contrappunto di linee, sguardi e respiri, il cui canto nella parte centrale esplode come in una supernova di tonalità maggiori e luminose mentre il pianoforte lo sostiene sprigionando esalazioni amorose con impeto sinfonico, corale e potenza romantica.
Quindi il furore si placa nella placida stasi di una nebulosa con valori larghi di durata e armonie misteriose, lontane, per poi tornare a ruotare con scale tumultuose verso orbite profonde, in un ponte modulante ad un ritmo accelerato, scalando altezze verso la vertigine.
Così infine torna la dolce melopea del canto iniziale, che delicatamente sfuma insieme al pianoforte entrambi verso il Mi bemolle più acuto: il violino sulla nota fissa, e il pianoforte ribattendola in rallentando fino a fermarsi, come due cuori finalmente accordati che battono all’unisono fino a sospendere il tempo nella grazia di un delicato e aureo istante, sicuri nel contatto con l’Origine.

This Romance «without words» for violin and piano was born as an exclusively piano piece, to which I later added the violin. The piano part therefore exists as a separate, independent and autonomous piece. So I tried to involve the personality of the violin in respect of that of the piano. Two individualities that touch, meet, harmoniously dialogue, seduce and attract each other, not in symbiotic union but in respect of the difference and otherness of the other, in a madness of love that remains the intimacy of the distant, sidereal friendship of two opposite gravity.
In collecting the violin song I let myself be inspired by a phrase by Shakespeare taken from Romeo and Juliet that I reported in the score: «What man art thou that thus bescreen'd in night so stumblest on my counsel?». It is the piano that poses the question of love, in whose nocturnal thoughts in shades of E flat major jam the violin in a counterpoint of lines, looks and breaths, whose singing in the central part explodes like in a supernova in major and bright tones while the piano supports it releasing amorous exhalations with symphonic, choral and romantic power.
Then the fury subsides in the placid stasis of a nebula with wide values of duration and mysterious, distant harmonies, and then returns to rotate with tumultuous scales towards deep orbits, in a modulating bridge at an accelerated pace, climbing heights towards vertigo.
So finally returns the sweet melody of the initial song, which gently fades along with the piano both towards the E flat more acute: the violin on the fixed note, and the piano repeating it in slowing down to stop, like two hearts finally tuned that beat in unison to suspend time in the grace of a delicate and golden moment, sure in the contact with the Origin.
