Back in the kayak after a long break ... and what a day on the water!
In this trip, I fish through a minor solunar period right before sunset, working both slip float rigs and micro jigs for bluegill and pumpkinseed. The fish were active despite dropping water temps, and I hooked into several solid fighters, with a few candidates for best fish of the day.
Key highlights:
Testing my sidearm & 45° hook set approach with circle hooks (boosting hookup percentages big time).
Battling fish over weed beds in 9 ft of water with slip floats + LCD micro jigs.
Enjoying a beautiful Michigan fall afternoon in the kayak before the coming cold front.
Modded rod setup with shortened handle for comfort & sensitivity.
Even with a dying battery at the end, it was a fun, productive session. Lots of action, good fights, and steady hookups all the way through the bite window.
