A wild week in Golden State politics. In Los Angeles, the Mayoral race sent into turmoil, as LA Times Reporting suggested Mayor Karen Bass directed the watering down of the Palisade Fire After-Action report. That bombshell causing a game of musical chairs, as Rick Caruso, Lindsey Horvath, and other considered entering the race, that also includes Rae Huang and Spencer Pratt.
Meanwhile, at the state level, the race for California governor is heating up. This week, seven candidates for Governor took to the debate stage, though three were surprisingly absent. This, as new fundraising numbers show a new entrant to the race is securing millions in support.
Meanwhile, Governor Gavin Newsom gearing up for a book tour, and finding himself at the receiving end of positive and negative national coverage, pieces in the New York Times and The Atlantic questioning his viability as a 2028 contender, while a piece in Vogue credits him for "setting his own rules" and being "embarrassingly handsome."
