Situated near Matheran, Peb fort also known as Vikatgad is one place where one must go trekking place in the monsoon. There are two routes for the trek:
#1 Neral to Fanaswadi - From Fanaswadi it takes 3-4 hours to reach the top and the journey could be a little difficult.
#2 Neral - Matheran Road: The trek from this route requires climbing down then up to reach the opposite side of the mountain. The roads are scary but adventurous and the view from down there is breathing-taking. Going here every year gives a different and vibrant experience each time. The best time to visit this place is in the monsoons. The metal stairs leading to the temple located just on top of the mountain and an old Shiva temple are some of the major attractions. You will also find a huge cave behind this mountain. It can accommodate almost 50-100 people which also makes it a night stay trek. The streams flowing down from the rocks have clean and chilled water which can also be used for drinking.
