Описание: Today marks 19 years since Twin Anemia Polycythemia Sequence (TAPS) was first named in a published paper.

Since then, research has transformed our understanding of this rare disease. TAPS is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed. It is not a form of TTTS but a distinct condition with its own challenges. Failing to recognize this difference affects diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care.

Monochorionic twins affected by TAPS face serious risks before and after birth. Without proper screening and follow-up, complications can go unrecognized. We now know how and when to screen using MCA Dopplers and understand other key signs that must be looked for. It’s also essential to recognize the short- and long-term effects of both post-laser and spontaneous TAPS.

Research continues to evolve, and staying informed is critical. TAPS is not just TTTS: it must be treated as its own disease. Raising awareness and improving recognition will lead to better diagnosis and care for monochorionic twins affected by TAPS.
