STILLS: Quake leaves trail of destruction across General Santos City | ABS-CBN News

Описание: A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Monday (June 8), sending buildings crumbling to the ground in General Santos City and leaving structures across the area with smashed windows and caved-in roofs.

Images showed residents standing in the streets amid the destruction as collapsed buildings partially reduced entire blocks to rubble, walls cracked and buckled under the force of the quake, and debris scattered across sidewalks and open spaces throughout the city.

Reuters was able to verify the location by original file metadata. Business signages, buildings and road layout also matched archive imagery of the area. Date was verified by local officials.

The Philippines' civil defence office has reported at least eight fatalities following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake. The deaths are still subject to validation, the office added.
