Описание: In this Science (Biology) video in Hindi for class 9th we explained the functions, properties and types of simple permanent tissue which is a type of plant tissues. This is a topic of Chapter 6 of science from NCERT.

A group of cells that are similar in structure and/or work together to achieve a particular function forms a tissue.

In plants tissues are broadly categorized as :–
1. 𝑀𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑐 𝑇𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑢𝑒
2. 𝑃𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑇𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑢𝑒
(𝑎) 𝑆𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑃𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑇𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑢𝑒
(𝑏) 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒𝑥 𝑃𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑇𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑢𝑒

Simple permanent tissue is categorized into three categories, viz., parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma.

Parenchyma -

→ Most common simple tissue
→ Relatively specialised cells
→ They have thin cell walls
→ They are living cells
→ They are usually loosely arranged
→ Inter cellular spaces are found
→ This tissue generally stores food
→ This tissue is found in the soft parts of the stem, leaves, fruits and flowers.

Parenchyma tissue containing chloroplast is called 𝑐ℎ𝑙𝑜𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑦𝑚𝑎

In aquatic plants, large air cavities are present in parenchyma to help them float. Such a parenchyma type is called 𝑎𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑦𝑚𝑎.

Collenchyma -

→ They are living cells.
→ Irregularly thickened at the corners due to the deposition of cellulose, hemicellulose and pectin.
→ Very little inter cellular spaces are found in this tissue.
→ This tissue gives flexibility.
→ It allows bending of stem, tendrils etc. of plants like climbers.
→ This tissue is also found in petiole and midrib of leaves (dicots only).

Sclerenchyma -

→ It contains dead cells.
→ Cells are long and narrow
→ It makes the plant parts hard and stiff and provides strength to the plant. e.g. coconut husk
→ Cell walls are thickened due to lignin. Often these walls are so thick that there is no internal space inside the cell.
→ This tissue is present in stems, around vascular bundles, in the veins of leaves and in the hard covering of seeds and nuts.
