The largest iron mine in Southeast Asia: Dungun Bukit Besi.
Initially called Bukit Batu Besi (Iron Hill), the name was changed to Bukit Besi in 1931, directly translating to 'Iron Hill.' The British referred to it as The Iron Hill. Dungun Iron Hill is not only the biggest iron mine in Southeast Asia but also renowned globally. As per Yan Qingping's 1942 'Nanyang Economic Geography,' Dungun Iron Mine's reserves are estimated to be between 40 million and 100 million tons.
