Getting High in the Hoosier

I love fire towers and climbing the Hickory Ridge tower in the Hoosier National Forest was the high point (literally and figuratively) of a ride I created. That part of the adventure—climbing the fire tower—went well. In fact it went well twice in nine days. But I had issues with the ride portion, issues caused by fussy technology, specifically my satnav unit. Not all of the trouble was caused by hardware; there was some user error, too. But both adventures were fun and I’d happily do either again.
GoPros are fine but have limitations. A gimbal can overcome these limitations, but even then you have to make specific stylistic choices in how to use the gimbal to achieve the desired results.
