Brooks Koepka announced on December 23, 2025, that he is leaving the LIV Golf League. In a statement from representatives of Koepka:

Brooks Koepka will be stepping away from LIV Golf. He is deeply grateful to Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Scott O’Neil, and the LIV Golf leadership team, his teammates, and the fans. Family has always guided Brooks’s decisions, and he feels this is the right moment to spend more time at home. Brooks will continue to be a huge supporter of LIV Golf and wishes the league and its players continued success. Brooks remains passionate about the game of golf and will keep fans updated on what’s ahead.

Koepka left the PGA Tour and signed with LIV Golf in 2022. Koepka won five times on the LIV Golf Tour and was the first LIV golfer to win a Major Championship, winning the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club. It remains unclear what is in store for Koepka’s future, as golfers who compete in events not sanctioned by the PGA Tour are subject to disciplinary action, which can include a one year suspension. Koepka remains qualified to play in all four Major tournaments in 2026 via his 2023 PGA Championship win.

While at LIV Golf, Koepka was team captain for Smash GC. With the departure of Koepka, former Smash GC teammate Talor Gooch takes over as captain of Smash GC for the 2026 LIV Golf season. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil released a statement regarding Gooch’s promotion, stating:
