Mrežnica river is a great place for escaping from Zagreb city heats and summer tourist crowds on the coast. The river is divided with long waterfalls formed on the sedra deposit barriers every few kilometres. In between water runs slowly so paddling upstream takes no special effort.
You can enter the river in many places. For us, parking near ponton bridge below Zvečaj is the best option. For lifting a boat up the waterfalls chose the eastern side of the river (your left).
This time we chose to visit Mrežnica in winter and luckily we managed to avoid wet feet. On the rudder was Mishka's vet – one of her favourite humans - the best expert to contact if you need medical advice for your dog while in Croatia
Mrežnica is very similar to the nearby Korana river that formes Plitvice Lakes situated forty kilometres upstream

Ovaj put smo Mrežnicu posjetili zimi i srećom se nismo smočili. Na kormilu je Mishkin veterinar Nenad Kršul, jedan od njoj najdražih ljudi i najbolji ekspert ako trebate savjet vezan za pse u prirodi.
Inače je Mrežnica ljeti savršena za bijeg od vrućine u Zagrebu i turističkih gužvi na moru. Rijeka je odijeljena sedrenim barijerama na kojima se formiraju dugački slapovi pa je voda mirna a veslanje uzvodno lagano bez obzira na vodostaj.
Mrežnici se može pristupiti na mnogo mjesta, mi smo parkirali pokraj pontonskog mosta ispod Zvečaja. Za podizanje čamca preko vodopada odaberite istočnu stranu rijeke (lijevu stranu, ako se gleda uzvodno). Mrežnica je vrlo slična susjednoj Korani koja formira Plitvička jezera četrdesetak kilometara uzvodno.


The Mrežnica is a river in Karlovac County, Croatia. It is 63 kilometres (39 mi) long and its basin covers an area of 64 square kilometres (25 sq mi).

Mrežnica is considered special due to its large number of waterfalls, totalling 93. It rises in Kordun, west of Slunj, and flows northwards, in parallel to Dobra and Korana, through Generalski Stol and Duga Resa, when it finally flows into the Korana in the south of Karlovac (at Mostanje/Turanj).

The Gojak Hydroelectric Power Plant is a high pressure diversion plant which harnesses the river power of the Ogulinska Dobra and Mrežnica rivers. WIKIPEDIA.ORG
