Sigiriya, also known as the Lion Rock, is a towering ancient fortress and UNESCO World Heritage site rising 200 meters from the central plains of Sri Lanka. Often called the "Eighth Wonder of the World," it served as the royal capital for King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD.

The Lion Gate: The ascent to the summit passes through two massive stone paws, the remnants of a colossal lion-shaped gateway that once guarded the path.
Ancient Frescoes: Halfway up the rock, a sheltered gallery features 5th-century paintings of "Apsaras" (celestial nymphs), renowned for their vibrant colors and detail.
Mirror Wall: A highly polished masonry wall that was once so reflective the King could see himself. It is covered in ancient graffiti and poems dating back to the 8th century.
Royal Gardens: The base features some of the world's oldest landscaped gardens, including intricate water, terrace, and boulder gardens with still-functional hydraulic systems.
The Summit: Reaching the top involves climbing 1,200 steps. The summit holds the ruins of the upper palace and offers 360-degree views of the surrounding forests.
